Felo is adding Google's Nano Banana Next image model, free to use. Coming soon with full commercial rights and faster generation speeds.

If you've been following the AI image generation space lately, you've probably heard about Nano Banana Next, Google's newest image model. We're working on bringing it to Felo. Here's what we know so far.

What is Nano Banana Next

Nano Banana Next is Google's latest image generation model, the successor to the Nano Banana family (which Felo users already know as "Nano Banana Pro," powered by Google Gemini). It was positioned as a direct answer to OpenAI's GPT Image 2, competing on photorealism, style control, and generation speed.

In short: it makes images from text descriptions, and by most measures it's a significant step up from what came before.

What's Actually Better

The improvements are real and measurable across a few dimensions:

Better photorealism. Portraits, product shots, and scenes all come out with more natural lighting, better textures, and faces that don't look quite so plastic. The model handles complex compositions with less of the artifacting that plagued earlier versions.

Actual style control. This is where Nano Banana Next pulls ahead of its predecessor. Instead of vague vibes, it follows natural language style instructions like "cinematic lighting," "editorial photography style," or "minimalist aesthetic," and keeps style consistent across generations. Nano Banana 2 used to drift between styles in the same batch. That's largely fixed.

Easier prompts. You don't need to engineer your prompt. Write like you're describing a scene to a designer who already knows what they're doing. Multiple subjects, specific lighting, compositional details, the model picks up on all of it.

Faster output. Google's own infrastructure powers the model, and the speed difference is noticeable. Where GPT Image 2 tends to make you wait, Nano Banana Next generates high-resolution images in a fraction of the time.

Commercial rights included. Every image you generate through Felo comes with full commercial usage rights, which covers ads, packaging, social media, websites. No extra licensing, no hidden fees.

How It Compares to GPT Image 2

The most common question. Here's the honest read:

  • Detail and text rendering: GPT Image 2 still has a slight edge, especially for precise typography and fine micro-details.
  • Speed: Nano Banana Next is faster.
  • Style interpretation: Nano Banana Next handles mood and aesthetic instructions more naturally.
  • Commercial clarity: GPT Image 2's licensing terms are unclear in many contexts. Through Felo, Nano Banana Next gives you full commercial rights on everything you generate.

Neither model is objectively "better", it depends on what you need. For product photography, mood-setting visuals, and fast iteration, Nano Banana Next is the one. For pixel-perfect text rendering on posters, GPT Image 2 might still be your pick. Having both available is the right answer.

What This Means for You

Felo's image tools don't just swap in a new model and call it a day. The plan is to integrate Nano Banana Next alongside the existing models we already have: GPT Image 2, Nano Banana Pro, and others, so you can pick the right model for the job without leaving the platform.

We're also planning side-by-side comparisons in the interface, so you can test the same prompt across models and see which output works best for your use case.

When Can You Try It

Coming soon. We don't have an exact date yet, but the tool page is live at felo.ai/tools/nano-banana-next where you can check for updates.

In the meantime, Felo already has GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro available if you want to explore what current-generation models can do.

Quick Recap

Nano Banana Next, Google's newest image model, is coming to Felo. It's faster than GPT Image 2, handles complex prompts more naturally, and delivers better photorealism. You'll get commercial rights on everything it generates. The exact rollout date hasn't been announced yet. Keep an eye on the Nano-banana-next tool page for updates.
