Nynorsk Translator Online – Bokmål Word Swap

Guía de uso

What is Nynorsk Translator Online – Bokmål Word Swap?

It is a text tool that replaces a fixed set of Bokmål word forms with their Nynorsk counterparts, and does the same in reverse. You paste text, say which direction you want, and get the converted text back in a copyable block, plus a short report of what changed and what stayed the same.

This is word-level substitution, not full translation. The supported list covers a small set of pronouns, present-tense verbs and infinitives — the kind of pairs a Norwegian class would drill. Everything outside that list is returned exactly as you typed it.

Key Features

  • Two-way word swap. Bokmål to Nynorsk and Nynorsk to Bokmål, using one published word list.
  • Exact preservation. Punctuation, spacing, line breaks, numbers and unlisted words come back unchanged.
  • Coverage report. After converting, you see which tokens were replaced and which were left alone, so nothing is silently dropped.
  • Word list on request. Ask for the list and get every supported pair, so you can check coverage before relying on output.
  • Capitalization handling. A listed word is matched whatever its casing, and its replacement is emitted exactly as stored in the published list. The stored form is authoritative, so the output casing does not depend on how you typed the source word.

How to Use

  1. Paste your Bokmål or Nynorsk text and state the direction, for example "Bokmål to Nynorsk: Jeg drikker og arbeider". If you do not state a direction, the agent infers it from which listed forms appear and tells you what it assumed.
  2. Read the converted text in the code block. Copy it directly into your document.
  3. Check the coverage note. Words marked as unchanged are outside the supported list — replace those yourself or rephrase.

Example Use Cases

  • Checking homework word pairs. You wrote "Jeg ber og begynner" and want the Nynorsk forms of the listed verbs before handing in.
  • Reading a Nynorsk sentence back into Bokmål. You have "eg drikk og byggjer" and want to see the Bokmål equivalents for the words the list covers.
  • Testing a text for list coverage. You paste a paragraph and want a quick report of how many words this tool can actually handle, so you know whether to trust it for the rest.

Tips for Best Results

  • Always state the direction. Ambiguous input is the main source of wrong output.
  • Treat the result as a word-pair reference, not a finished translation. Unlisted words are deliberately untouched.
  • Ask for the word list first if you need to know coverage before pasting a long text.

FAQ

What input does it accept?
Plain text, any length you can paste. It works on single words, sentences or paragraphs. It does not accept files, images or audio.

How accurate is it?
It is exact for the words on its list: those replacements are deterministic. It is not a full translator, so sentences containing unlisted vocabulary will come back partly unchanged. The coverage report tells you exactly where that happened.

How is this different from some free text tools?
This tool publishes its complete word-pair list on request, reports every replacement and every unchanged word, and preserves all other characters, so you can judge the output instead of guessing.

Does it handle dialect or grammar?
No. It swaps listed word forms only. It does not fix agreement, inflection or sentence grammar.
