From local files to finished deliverables

QoderWork reads your files. Felo reads the world.

QoderWork runs on your Mac or PC, works directly on local documents, and already ships docx and pptx skills. Felo skills cover the other half of the job: current web research, clean page extraction, and transcripts — so the report it produces is built on sources you can check.

Why the pairing works

A local workspace needs an outside source

QoderWork's design is deliberately local: the desktop app reads and writes files on your machine, keeps task history on the device, and pulls models, skills, and connectors from the cloud as you work. Its built-in docx and pptx skills already handle the formatting layer — template filling, Markdown to DOCX, and cleaner slide output.

The missing input is usually external. A weekly report compares your numbers against market data. A competitive analysis needs the competitor's current page, not last quarter's. A research summary should quote a talk that was recorded last month.

Felo skills are installed the same way as any other QoderWork skill — a folder with a SKILL.md in ~/.qoderwork/skills/ — and they answer from live sources. QoderWork keeps the local-file context and the document output; the skill supplies the evidence.

Platform fit

What QoderWork gives a research skill to work with

The workspace traits that shape how these skills should be used.

Context

Local files as first-class context

The assistant can read the spreadsheet, the draft, and the folder on your disk. A research skill adds the sources those files cannot contain.

Output

docx and pptx skills built in

Deliverable formatting is already covered, so Felo skills only need to return structured findings, not fight over layout.

Memory

Knowledge base with ZIP and large-file upload

Whole archives can be uploaded, which makes it practical to keep project material and generated research in one searchable place.

Extension

Connectors and a marketplace

Skills, connectors, and MCP servers share one extension surface, so adding an external capability is a normal operation rather than a hack.

Skill picks

Five Felo skills for a desktop work assistant

Chosen to complement, not duplicate, QoderWork's own document skills.

Felo Search

Live facts and sources
ResearchSources

The reference layer for anything the local files cannot answer: current pricing, policy changes, market moves, and version releases.

Example askSearch for the current tariff rules for this category and note the source and date for each point.
Open the Felo Search page →

Felo Slides

Deck drafting
OutputDeck

QoderWork writes the pptx; this skill decides what belongs on each slide, so the deliverable is not a wall of text dropped into slide frames.

Example askTurn this week's research into a ten-slide client deck with one point per slide.
Open the Felo Slides page →

Felo SuperAgent

Logos and product images
ImagesBrand

QoderWork already owns the files, so a generated logo or product image lands in the workspace next to the document that needs it.

Example askCreate a logo lockup for this product page and save the PNGs in this project folder.
Open the Felo SuperAgent page →

Felo X Search

Market chatter on X
SignalsSocial

Before a positioning note or a client deck, check what customers actually post and reply about the brand.

Example askPull the last week of posts about this brand and group the complaints by theme.

Choose the Felo Skill to Install on QoderWork

QoderWork does the download and the file placement when you ask it to, so each line below is the request rather than a shell command. Pick the job you want covered: research, extraction, slides, transcripts, social monitoring, or a long-running workflow.

Workflows

Four workflows that mix local files with live sources

The pattern is the same each time: QoderWork owns the file, Felo owns the evidence, and the deliverable stays on your machine.

01

Monthly report with market context

Your numbers live in a local spreadsheet. The commentary needs what happened outside the company this month.

PromptRead the sales workbook, compare the quarter against published category data, and draft the commentary section with sources.
What lands back

A document where the internal numbers and the external references sit side by side, each traceable.

Felo SearchFelo X Search
02

Competitive analysis into a client deck

A client asks how three competitors position themselves today. The deck must be presentable and defensible.

PromptFetch the three pricing pages, build the comparison, and turn it into a client-ready pptx.
What lands back

A deck generated from current pages, with the capture date recorded in the notes.

Felo SearchFelo Slides
03

Turn a recorded briefing into notes and slides

A two-hour recorded briefing contains the details, but nobody will rewatch it before the meeting.

PromptSummarize the transcript into a briefing note and a ten-slide recap.
What lands back

A text summary plus a slide draft, both derived from the recording rather than from memory.

Felo YouTube SubtitlingFelo Slides
04

Keep a running knowledge base

Research is spread across old tasks and folders, and every new question restarts from scratch.

PromptConsolidate the market notes in this folder with this week's sources into one updated document.
What lands back

A single document with dated entries, source lists, and a visible change history.

Adoption path

How QoderWork users start

QoderWork owns the local file and the pptx output; Felo owns the evidence, so the path runs from your folder to a sourced deliverable.

Point QoderWork at your files

The desktop app works on local documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks.

  • macOS 14+ or Windows 10+ 64-bit
  • ~/.qoderwork/skills/<name>/SKILL.md for skill folders
  • Install from the chat, the skill market, GitHub, or a local upload

Add the live evidence layer

Local files never contain this month's rules, prices, or public reaction.

  • Search for current tariffs, rules, and pricing
  • Transcripts for recorded briefings
  • X posts when the brand itself is the topic

Export the deliverable

The file stays on your machine, next to the sources it came from.

  • docx and pptx output from the workspace
  • Logo and product images saved into the project folder
  • The source list kept with the file
Install

Ask QoderWork to install it, then test on a real file

QoderWork handles the cloning and file placement itself. You describe the skill, confirm, and it lands in ~/.qoderwork/skills/.

  1. 01

    Prepare Felo credentials

Install the Felo CLI and store the key in your user config. QoderWork skills call the CLI, so the key stays out of the project folder.

    Terminal
    npm install -g felo-ai
    felo config set FELO_API_KEY your-api-key-here
  2. 02

Install the skill from a repository link

Paste the Felo skill URL and ask QoderWork to install it. The app clones, places, and loads the files for you.

    Ask QoderWork
    Please download https://github.com/Felo-Inc/felo-skills/tree/main/felo-search
and put it in ~/.qoderwork/skills/, then confirm the skill is loaded.

You can also search the Skill Marketplace for a skill that converts pages into Markdown notes, or upload a skill file you already have.

  3. 03

Verify with a file on your machine

Point the task at a local document and require sources in the answer. That combination is what these skills exist for.

    Ask QoderWork
Read ~/Documents/q3-plan.md, pull the current figures for each market
we mention, and update the document with a source list at the end.
  4. 04

    Keep the skill list tight

Enable what the current project needs. QoderWork matches skills by their descriptions, and a short list makes the matching more predictable.

    Then iterate
Which skills are installed for this task, and which one did you use
    for the last answer?
Questions

Before you point QoderWork at a folder

Where does QoderWork store skills?
In ~/.qoderwork/skills/, one folder per skill with a SKILL.md that describes the trigger conditions and the steps. Felo bundles follow the same layout.
Do I need to copy files manually?
No. You can paste the repository link into a conversation and ask QoderWork to download and install it, or install from the Skill Marketplace, or upload a local skill file. Manual copying works too if you prefer it.
Do skills sync between my Mac and Windows machines?
Your Qoder account, credits, and entitlements are shared across the Qoder family, but task history is stored locally per device. Reinstall the skill on each machine you work from.
How is a skill different from a connector?
A skill is a written playbook the assistant applies to a task type. A connector links an external service. Felo's research skills are playbooks that call the Felo CLI, so they do not require you to wire up a separate integration.
Will research tasks consume more credits?
Longer tasks consume more, and QoderWork shares one credit balance with the rest of the Qoder platform. Start with a narrow question and a single source before running a multi-source investigation.
Can the assistant edit my local files while researching?
It can read and write local files as part of a task, which is the point of the desktop app. Keep draft edits in a copy when the document matters, and require a source list so any change is reviewable.
